Shut-off valves which are intended to permit a reduction in cross-section or shutting-off in pipelines by external intervention, and by virtue of the design achieve this by a housing with a screwed-in upper part for receiving the screw spindle and the valve seat seal, are contrasted according to the invention by a type of design which comprises an inner pipe (3) using the ends as an inflow end (4) and an outflow end (5) and having pushed over it a sealing tube (2), which controls the cross-sectional opening of the valve outlet (8), and consequently the flowing-out rate of the valve, by means of a screw spindle (1) attached on the side. Constructed from just a few parts, consequently the amount of wear is low and maintenance is easy. <IMAGE>
