A door handle or holding handle, especially for motor vehicles, consists of a reinforcing insert which receives fastening elements and which is surrounded, at least over most of its surface, by a layer of synthetic-resin foam made elastic and by an outer skin. In order to improve such a handle, there is arranged between the reinforcing insert (5) and the elastic synthetic-resin layer (3) a hard intermediate layer (19) which approximates to the contour of the handle (1) and which is at a differing distance from the outer skin (4) over the length and/or circumference of the handle (1). <IMAGE>
