The invention relates to an arrangement for measuring the widthwise tension of running rolls of fabric, in particular in the case of drying stenters, setting stenters or the like, and its aim is to measure in a simple way the widthwise tension of rolls of fabric which are guided through the treatment station by means of stentering chains. According to the invention, for this purpose an arrangement is proposed in which strain gauges which are connected to an amplifier and to recording or/and control devices are mounted on the cheek of the chain line which faces the roll of fabric and serves to support the tensioning means. <IMAGE>
