In mechanical musical instruments, the sound information carrier frequently consists of a round perforated disk, a folding cardboard or a perforated tape. In this arrangement, the information on the sound information carrier can be scanned pneumatically or mechanically. Thus, the old sound information carriers, which have a great rarity value today, are subjected to great wear. The purpose of the sliding-block attachment is to avoid having to play old sound information carriers. It is a small device having a modern small magnetic or electrical memory (e.g. EPROM, floppy disk, magnetic tape or the like) which is placed on the sliding block instead of the perforated disk, the folding cardboard or the perforated tape for the purpose of controlling the mechanical musical instrument. The occurrence of holes in these sound information stores is simulated by the sliding-block attachment by means of small electromagnetically operated plungers, see Figure. A device for transferring the contents of old sound information carriers to the small electrical or magnetic memory is the subject matter of a further patent. <IMAGE>
