The invention relates to a process and device thereof for increasing the solids of moderately dewatered sewage sludges by burnt lime or other additives. Known processes require high expenditure in terms of apparatus and construction and high energy consumption in operation as a result of additional mechanical units necessary. It is therefore the aim to name a process, the device of which permits the addition of the additives, to the sludge to be treated, in a compact disaggregating, metering and mixing device. The solution provides that the device is accommodated in a shared housing. Outfitting with differently designed mixing tools is provided. The design of the mixing tools depends on the additive used and the quality of the sludge to be treated.
