PURPOSE:To output and input data irrespective of the type of a card only by inserting the card into a common card inserting port by disposing a magnetic head and a contact head along a card carrying path. CONSTITUTION:In the case of the IC card, when the card is inserted from the card inserting port 3, the card is bitten by a feed roller 6 and pulled back at constant speed. When the end of the card abuts against the engaging part 13 of a contact head carriage 9, the contact head 16 is raised to contact a contact pin 16a with the contact of the IC card completely. In this case of the magnetic card, at the time of inserting it into the card inserting port 3, the card is moved backward at the constant speed with a magnetic stripe by resiliently pressing the magnetic head 7. In this manner, before the end of the magnetic card abuts against the engaging part 13 of the contact head carriage 9, the reading of the magnetic stripe is finished. |
