PURPOSE:To make audible feeling satisfactory and to remove a fear of destroying a stereo receiver or the like by interposing a high speed muting circuit and a low speed muting circuit in series in a sound signal path. CONSTITUTION:In the sound signal path connecting a sound signal input terminal 11 of a muting device 10 and a sound signal output terminal 12, the low speed muting circuit 13 and the high speed muting circuit 14 are interposed in series, and a muting control signal of low level outputted during the selection of a channel from a detecting IC is supplied to a microcomputer 16 and one input end of an OR circuit 17 from a terminal 15. On the start to select the channel, the sound signal is immediately muted in the high speed muting circuit 14 and on the completion to select the channel, the muting of the sound signal is released with delay in the low speed muting circuit 13 and from the start to select the channel to the completion, pop noise is effectively muted.
