PURPOSE:To form an image as an image corresponding to an image of an object, on a light receiving surface of a light receiving sensor, by forming an image by the first lens array, between the first and the second lens arrays, and thereafter, forming an image as an erect image by the second lens array. CONSTITUTION:For instance, a one line portion of an object S is read as optical images AB, DC, EF... which have been divided incessantly and continuously into parts of the number corresponding to lens elements, respectively, by each lens element l11, l12, l13... of the first lens array L1, it is made to form an image by the first image forming surface IM1 as images B1A1, D1C1, F1E1... between said array and the second lens array L2 of the next stage, and it is made to form an image as images A2B2, C2D2, E2F2... by the second image forming surface IM2 on the light receiving surface of a light receiving sensor R by each lens element l21, l22, l23... of the second lens array L2. Subsequently, by the light receiving sensor R, each image A2B2, C2D2, E2F2 of one line is converted to an electric signal, and from a terminal (t), for instance, a signal of a one line portion is fetched successively or simultaneously.
