Method and apparatus for the casting of mouldings under vacuum or inert gas in casting moulds (12) inside a casting chamber (1). In a cooling chamber (7) adjoining the casting chamber (1), the coating mould is exposed, immediately after casting, in an at least partially pasty state of the moulding, to the pressure of the inert gas until solidification takes place.
