The proposal is for a pressure-operated brake cylinder, the piston rod (6) of which has a stop which ensures that the end (9) of the piston rod always protrudes by a certain amount from the cylinder. The stop is formed by a continuous annular washer (11) anchored in the circumferential surface of the piston rod (6) and by a longitudinally split guide screw (13) which is mounted on the piston rod (6) after the assembly of the brake cylinder and is anchored in the cover hole (10). This makes it possible to produce an inexpensive stop which makes it easy to cope with the length tolerances for the protruding length. <IMAGE>
