A conductor, having three encapsulated poles, of a gas-insulated switching installation for medium voltage and high voltage. In the case of gas-insulated switching installations, the conductors are provided with metal encapsulation elements which are filled with insulating gas. In order to achieve a space-saving, cheaper method of construction with good dielectric safety, the three phase conductors (1, 2, 3) are arranged in a plane. The encapsulation consists of three cylindrical elements (4, 5, 6) at whose centre the phase conductors (1, 2, 3) run. The cylindrical elements (4, 5, 6) are connected to one another by means of opposite walls (7, 8, 9, 10) which run in a concave shape with respect to one another. Such a conductor having three encapsulated poles also makes it possible to design junctions in a space-saving manner. <IMAGE>
