An immobilized enzyme, e.g. aminoacylase, trypsin and glucoamylase represented by the average unit formula AmRnXpSiO(4-m-n-p)/2, in which A is a monovalent hydrocarbon group having at least one aldehydo group -CHO or an acetal group -CH(OR<1>)2, R<1> being an alkyl group, R is a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, X is a hydroxy group or a silicon-bonded hydrolyzable group, the subscript m is a positive number in the range from 0.01 to 1, the subscript n is zero or a positive number smaller than 1 with the proviso that m+n is a positive number not exceeding 1 and the subscript p is a positive number smaller than 0.5.
