PURPOSE:To avoid the contamination of a ribbon and the remarkable decrease in throughput, by a method wherein the transfer of a carriage and the operation of a printing head are once stopped when the supply voltage decreases and the printing is carried out under a state in which the transfer speed of the carriage and the operation speed of the printing head are lowered. CONSTITUTION:When the printing of a high density is started, the output voltage of a power source is lowered at a time point when the printing proceeds to a certain extent. This is detected by a power source output voltage detection circuit 7 and CPU 1 outputs the command by which the printing is once stopped to a carriage control circuit 2 and a printing control circuit 4. Then, the command by which the printing speed is lowered is outputted and the printing is again started in a state where the printing speed is lowered at the position where the printing is stopped. At the time point when the transfer of the carriage is once stopped, a command is outputted by CPU 1 in order to spread the interval of pulses of printing signal and the printing is again started. Just before or after transferring to the subsequent line, the control is carried out so as to return to ordinary printing speed. Therefore, the blank feed in the reverse direction of the carriage is never performed and the contamination of a ribbon does not occur. |
