A hollow vessel (2), with ventilated weatherproof lid (1), containing a self contained heat and/or light unit (3), with ballast (4), adjustably buoyed on or submersed in fluid bodies. The lid (1) is detachable for access to the inside of vessel (2), which may be anchored, or free floating, transmitting heat and/or light to the body of fluid through the opaque or clear container vessel. This enables frozen water to be thawed by transmitting heat to surrounding ice, thereby releasing noxious gases of decomposition and reducing the tension of expanding ice. Also, transmitted light serves as decorative illumination and as a lure for nocturnal insects to feed aquatic animal and fish stocks. <IMAGE> |
