[Also in Division B2] A device for washing tanks comprises a housing 10 rotatable about a vertical axis relatively to a coupling member 16 by which a liquid supply pipe is fixed to the device, and a nozzle head 19 mounted on the housing 10 and rotatable about a horizontal axis. The housing 10 and the nozzle head 19 are rotated by a turbine 29 through driving means similar to that described in Specification No. 1,031,557 except that the head 19 is connected by a clutch to a bevel gear 24 of the drive and is freely rotatable on the housing 10 when liquid is not supplied thereto. When liquid is supplied the liquid pressure applied to the head 19 frictionally engages a groove 22a in a flange 22 thereon with clutch plates 21 secured to the bevel gear 24. |
