RACK PINION TYPE STEERING DEVICE

摘要

PURPOSE:To make the friction force between a steering rack and a steering pinion a value in response to the driving condition and improve the steering feeling at a high speed in particular by controlling the oil pressure pressing a rack guide in response to the car travel speed and the longitudinal acceleration of a tie rod. CONSTITUTION:Gear housings 24, 24 containing a rack guide 23 directly pressing a rack 22 as an adjusting means increasing/decreasing and adjusting the friction force between a pinion 21 and the rack 22 are formed in one body with a steering gear box 1. The rack guide 23 guides the oil pressure adjusted by an oil pressure adjusting valve section 6 and controls its pressing force, thus controlling the said friction force. The oil pressure adjusting valve section 6 controls so as to increase the adjusted oil pressure as the longitudinal acceleration of a tie rod 2 is increased and as the car speed is increased based on outputs of an acceleration sensor 3 detecting the longitudinal accelaration of a tie rod 2 and a car speed sensor 4.
