PURPOSE:To eliminate an external operation member and reduce the size and thickness of an electronic timepiece, and to minimize an increase in current consumption by switching and connecting a photodetection quantity detecting circuit to plural photodetecting elements on a time-division basis. CONSTITUTION:Light inputs of the plural photodetecting elements 5, 6, and 7 which are so arranged as to photodetect the external light of a timepiece case are converted by a photodetection signal generating circuit 60 into an electric signal and a photodetection condition deciding circuit 20 generates a control signal according to the condition of respective photodetection signals outputted from the circuit 60, thereby controlling the correction control circuit 16 and display driving circuit 17 of a timer circuit 12. Then the circuit 60 switches and connects a photodetection quantity detecting circuit to the plural photodetecting elements 5, 6, and 7 on a time-division basis by providing the photodetection quantity detecting circuit which detects the quantities of photodetection of the photodetecting elements 5, 6, and 7 and a switching circuit. |
