PURPOSE:To produce a moving vane of a steam turbine having excellent resistance to erosion and corrosion by forming the front edge at the top end of the moving vane of the steam turbine of a specifically composed Co-Cr-W-C alloy and forming a carbide layer consisting of a specific metal on the front layer thereof. CONSTITUTION:The front edge at the top end of the 12Cr heat resisting steel moving vane of the steam turbine to be used in a nuclear plant, etc., is heavily eroded and worn and therefore, the Co-Cr-W-C alloy is build-up welded thereto and further the carbide layer consisting of one kind of the metal selected from the group 4a, 5a metals of periodic table and Cr, Mn is further formed thereon by a diffusion penetration treatment or the Co-Cr-W-C alloy having the above- mentioned metallic carbide layer formed by the diffusion penetration treatment is joined to the eroded and worn part on the front edge at the top end of the moving vane of the turbine. There is no possibility for the formation of a radioactive material Co60 by the elusion of Co.
