PURPOSE:To obtain an extremely thin sealed type lead storage battery by enabling both a laminated negative grid and a laminated negative pole excellent in corrosion resistance and mechanical strength to be employed in said battery, owing to a process of adding Ag to Pb-Ca-Sn alloy or Pb-Sn alloy. CONSTITUTION:The material for a negative grid and a negative pole is lead alloy including 0.5-10wt% of Sn with 0.02-0.5wt% of Ag added thereto. Since Ag can act as restricting dispersion of Sn molecules over the surface of alloy by being added thereto, corrosion on the surface of alloy caused by oxidation of Sn can be prevented, to have the anti-corrosion property improved and also to have an effect of enhancing the mechanical strength of the alloy exhibited. Thus, an expand negative grid in laminated form and of light weight with sheet thickness less than 0.5mm and having high content of Sn to be excellent in mechanical strength can be obtained together with possibility of forming also a pole in lamination. |
