PURPOSE:To observe the shape of a fine substance by constituting the titled device of horizontal and vertical microscopes, monitor TVs, a reference block positioning mechanism, and a moving mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A device for observing the shape of a fine substance such as a magnetic head consists of the horizontal and vertical microscopes 3, 6 fixed on a supporting stand to form observing positions or portions, monitor TVs 5, 8 respectively connected to the microscopes 3, 6 to immediately observe real images magnified by the microscopes, the reference block positioning mechanism 29 capable of positioning the substance to be observed, and the moving mechanism 9 having a moving body for moving the substance to be observed from the mechanical reference surface to an observing position or a portion. Consequently, the substance to be observed such as a magnetic head whole leading end is fragile and is easily damaged can be also simultaneously observed by the monitor TVs.
