PURPOSE:To obtain an aluminum alloy for casting excellent in neutron- absorption capacity, having superior castability and workability, and further excellent in strength, strength at high temp., and corrosion resistance, by specifying a composition consisting of Cd, Si, Cu, Mg, and Al. CONSTITUTION:The aluminum alloy for casting excellent in neutron-absorption calacity has a composition consisting of, by weight, 0.2-10% Cd, 6-12% Si, 0.1-1.0% Cu and/or 0.1-1.0% Mg, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities. This alloy has superior castability, elongation workability, and formability and is easily manufactured into structures and, moreover, it is excellent in mechanical properties, machinability, and corrosion resistance.
