PURPOSE:To reduce the size and weight over the entire part of a welding gun by fixing a lower chip to the lower arm of the welding gun and attaching freely turnably an upper chip, via an auxiliary arm, to the upper arm thereof. CONSTITUTION:A welding gun 41 consisting of a C-shaped arm 46 over the entire part is supported, via an equalizing mechanism 47, by the wrist 40 of a robot. A lower chip 58 is fixed to the top end of a long lower arm 46 a of the arm 46, and an auxiliary arm 53 is attached, via a hinge pin 54, to the top end of the short upper arm 46b, and is made freely turnable around the pin 54 by the operation of a turning cyinder 55. A pressurizing cylinder 57 having an upper chip 56 is attached to the top end of said arm. The lower chip 58 of the gun 41 in an open state is advanced into the tunnel part 45 of a floor panel 45, and a turning cylinder 55 is actuated to position the chip 56 oppositely to the chip 58. The cylinder 57 is actuated to advance the chip 56 and to press and sandwich a vertical wall part 45b, whereby spot welding is accomplished between both chips 56 and 58. |
