ROLLING METHOD WITH PLANETARY MILL LINE

PURPOSE:To permit rolling with decreased edge drops and without the fluctuation of a thickness by providing build-up parts having the diameter larger than the diameter of the central part of a feed roll and having a taper to the sides slightly inner than the side ends of the feed roll. CONSTITUTION:The crown of the feed roll 2 of a planetary mill line is so formed that the central part 3 is made flat or is slightly crowned. The build-up parts 4 are provided to the point inner by the certain depth determined by a roll gap near the center from the side end parts. The diameter of the build-up parts 4 is made larger by 1-10% than the diameter in the central part 3 and is tapered toward the outside at the side end parts. The amt. of the material to be rolled in the edge parts is conversely increased if the feed roll 2 having such shape is used. The edge drops are thereby decreased and the local fluctuation of the thickness is prevented.
