PURPOSE:To obtain BaTiO3 single crystal capable of cutting out a single crystal block long in the direction of a main axis economically by using seed crystal having the specified axial direction and performing the upbringing of BaTiO3 single crystal due to a pulling-up method. CONSTITUTION:BaTiO3 single crystal 2 is brought up by using seed crystal 1 slanted at an angle theta=15-30 deg.C from the direction of a main axis. In other words, the degree of temp. drop is controlled so that one of the normals in a shoulder part 3 is made parallel to the direction of the main axis. In single crystal obtained by such a way, (a) face habit clearly appears in one part of the shoulder part 3 and the direction of its normal becomes the main axis and therefore this single crystal is made extremely favorable in case of cutting out single crystal 6'. In BaTiO3 single crystal which is obtained by this method and has (a) axis slanted from the growth direction, a large single crystal block wherein the main axis in made to one side can economically be cut out because the (a) face habit clearly appears.
