1493892 Pipe couplings FESTO-MASCHINENFABRIK GOTTLIEB STOLL 7 Jan 1975 [12 Jan 1974] 527/75 Heading F2G A disconnectible coupling of, e.g. plastics, steel or brass, for pipes of, e.g. plastics or rubber, has at one end a screw threaded connector 14 and at the other end a socket 12 adapted to receive a pipe end. The socket has a conical outer surface and is divided by a number of longitudinal slots 13 into flexible chuck segments 12a-12d (see section in Fig. 2) so that a securing ring 18 can be moved along the outer surface of the socket 12 to cause the chuck segments to clamp around the pipe end. The ring 18 may be secured in the clamping position by a projection 24 on the ring 18 engaging a groove 22 in the socket outer surface. Alternatively the latter may carry a projection to engage a groove in the ring 18, or the end zone of the socket outer surface may be less inclined tothe longitudinal axis to retain a ring 18 having a smooth inner surface. The inner surface of the socket 12 may carry toothing to improve the grip on the pipe end, and the latter may abut against an internal shoulder provided in the bore of the coupling beyond the end faces 13a to which the slots 13 extend. |
