PURPOSE:To bevel the front and rear ends of material for improving productivity while a workpiece passes through a series of material transfer paths by providing a cutting means reciprocating in the direction orthogonal to the material transfer path of front sand rear transfer means to locate fixedly the front and rear ends of a workpiece for cutting. CONSTITUTION:A workpiece supplied onto a front transfer means F is transferred backward and the front transfer end is set by a front end locating means while being fixed by a clamp means to be placed at a predetermined cutting position. Thereafter, cutting devices A, B are operated orthogonally to the workpiece transfer path to bevel the front end of workpiece. After working, the cutting device stands by at the stroke end and drives reversely the workpiece after sending it into a rear transfer means G to locate and clamp the rear end of the workpiece. And the cutting devices A, B standing by are operated again to bevel the rear end. Since the front and rear ends are thus beveled on the workpiece transfer path, a workpiece switching operation or the like can be dispensed with to improve the operatability and productivity.
