CONSTITUTION:Because the cutting quality of an abrasive wheel 12 is bad and the grinding resistance is high, immediately after trueing, grinding work is carried out by reducing the peripheral speed of a grindstone according to the grinding resistance. The control of the peripheral speed of the grindstone is carried out through the inverter control corresponding to the grinding resistance detected by a grinding resistance detector 35. Since the load applied onto one piece of the superhard abrasive grain of the abrasive wheel 12 is increased by the reduction of the peripheral speed of the grindstone, the damage applied onto the abrasive wheel 12 is increased, and the superhard abrasive grains are actively broken, and the formation of acute cutting edge is accelerated. Therefore, the rate of reduction of the grinding resistance for the grinding quantity is increased, and the speedy restoration to the ordinary grinding resistance is permitted.
