A method of producing a self-supporting film with a positive photographic image comprises splitting an image- carrying positive photographic film in a manner known per se and removing remaining adhering paper residues from the image part and using the thus obtained image part as a self-supporting film having a thickness of less than 50μm. Embodiments for carrying out this process continuously are also indicated.
