PURPOSE:To erase a large quantity of data in a short time so that they cannot be reproduced, by executing write of a data pattern from which an original data cannot be read out, at a higher speed than a speed of a usual data write, to a management data area and a real data area. CONSTITUTION:In case of erasing a data on an optical disk 2, a control part 1 instructs a usual rotation to a rotation driving part 4, and a head 3 confirms a track sector and paints out the data. Also, in case a data to be rejected extends over the whole track, the head 3 is set to the track, and thereafter, the control part 1 instructs a high speed rotation to the rotation driving part 4, and executes the painting-out at a high speed. In this way, in case of erasing a partial sector of the track, it is necessary to execute painting-out by reading out a sector ID by a usual rotation, but in case of painting out the whole track, it is possible to execute painting-out by a high speed rotation.
