PURPOSE:To increase discharge performance in a sealed lead-acid battery by adding heat-treated carbon fibers having a specified shape, which are shortly cut, to positive or negative paste for a plate. CONSTITUTION:In a sealed lead-acid battery in which dilute sulfuric acid is retained in a retainer or silica gel, carbon fibers which are heat-treated in a specified temperature range and has a crystal lattice size of d(002)=3.34-3.36Angstrom , and Lc(002), La(110)>=100Angstrom in (002) and (110) crystal face respectively is cut in a specified length and added to positive or negative paste in a plate. Thereby, sulfuric acid and bisulfuric acid ions inserted into C-axies direction layers of carbon contribute to charge-discharge reaction. In addition, carbon is high conductivity and increases charge-discharge efficiency and retards increase in internal resistance. |
