PURPOSE:To avoid troubles of breakage, entanglement or the like of wire at starting and stopping of a winding machine by drawing out the wire through a wire guide arm disposed above a wire feed bobbin rotatable in a unit with a hollow shaft and adapted to be rotatable with a predetermind level of friction torque relative to the hollow shaft. CONSTITUTION:A drain wire feed bobbin 4 is mounted on a flyer 8 having a hollow portion through which an electric cable 6 extends, and is rotated by a motor 1. A wire guide arm 12 is provided above the bobbin 4 to be rotatable with a predetermined level of friction torque relative to a hollow rotary shaft 9. A drain wire 7 drawn from the feed bobbin 4 travels through a ceramic die 14 mounted to the guide arm 12 to be wound around the electric cable 6. The guide arm is rotatable relative to the hollow rotary shaft 9, and the rolling friction torque imparts a certain tensile force to the drain wire 7. As the guide arm is much lighter than the feed bobbin 4, overrun at starting and stopping of the winding machine can be minimized, avoiding entanglement, breakage or the like of the wire.
