PURPOSE:To enable a test environment to be kept at a high pressure while permitting a test piece to be maintained even at a temperature different from cryogenic temperature liquid, by pressurizing the test piece by a pressurized gas while the temperature of the test piece is adjusted with a control of a heat medium gas. CONSTITUTION:An airtight pressure container 41 which is formed by closing both ends of a expandable double cylindrical side wall made up of an internal side wall 42 and an external side wall 43 with respective casing 46 and 47 is arranged in a cryostat. On the other hand, a space inside the internal wall 42 of the container 41 is made to communicate with a pressure gas supply means. A test piece mounting jig 55 is connected to a test piece mounting device 12 piercing the casing 46. A test piece mounting jig 54 is mounted to the casing 47, which is connected to a test piece mounting device 13. A space between the internal and external side wall 42 and 43 of the container 41 is made to communicate with a heat medium gas supply means. Then, cryogenic temperature liquid is injected by a specified value into a cryostat and when the test piece 11 reaches a desired temperature, the heat medium gas supply valve is closed to make vacuum a space between the internal side wall 42 and the external side wall 43 with a vacuum pump to form a heat insulating layer.
