PURPOSE:To economically obtain the titled compound from paraffin, olefin and/or naphthene in high yield, by using catalyst consisting of a crystalline aluminosilicate containing zinc and chromium at specific ratios and specifying the reaction condition. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic hydrocarbon is produced from a hydrocarbon raw material containing paraffin, olefin and/or naphthene preferably having a carbon number of >=2 and a 90% distillation temperature of <=190 deg.C. The reaction is carried out at 350-580 deg.C under a pressure between atmospheric pressure and 30kg/cm<2>g at a weight space velocity of 0.1-50hr<-1> using a catalyst consisting of a crystalline aluminosilicate containing 0.5-3wt% zinc and 0.01-1wt% chromium, especially a high-silica crystalline aluminosilicate. The objective compound can be economically produced at a high yield with little evaporation loss of zinc enabling the low-temperature combustion removal of deposited tar. The chromium is preferably present as a cation in the catalyst preferably by using a liquid ammonia solution of a chromium compound. |
