<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a polarization plane keeping optical fiber coil excellent in an extinction ratio and an insertion loss by filling gaps between the adjacent fibers of fiber layers with an adhesive every time when the polarization plane keeping optical fiber coils are wound by one layer. CONSTITUTION:After an optical fiber 1 is wound around a core member 2 fifty times or so as the first layer, a ultraviolet hardening coating material 3 is permeated from the surface of the first layer and the material 3 is hardened by irradiating ultraviolet rays upon the first layer to fill the gaps between the adjacent optical fibers 1 with the material 3 and form a smooth surface. Then, the optical fiber 1 is again wound around the smooth surface fifty times or so as the second layer and the ultraviolet hardening coating is applied to the second layer. Thus, every time when the optical fiber 1 is wound by one layer (fifty times), the ultraviolet hardening coating is applied and the gaps between the adjacent optical fibers 1 is filed with the material 3 to form the smooth surface. This process is repeated to manufacture a fourteen layer coiling, that is, seven hundred time coiling polarization plane keeping optical fiber coil.</p> |
