Device for displaying posters or signs which includes a base on which a poster frame is mounted. The means for mounting the poster frame on the base comprise a spring structure which interconnects the lower part of the poster frame and the base. In one of the embodiments, the spring structure comprises a pair of helical springs which are distanced from each other and which extend between the frame and the base. In another embodiment, the spring structure is an elongate torsion spring mounted transversely with respect to the base. On its lower edge, the poster frame has a pair of mutually spaced clamp supports which are applied to the torsion spring. The poster frame which normally extends in a vertical direction upwards from the base has mounted on it a backing member for receiving posters or other announcements or items of another type. The surface area of the backing member is relatively large. The spring structure on which the frame is mounted allows the frame and the backing member to deflect downwards when a force is applied to them such as, for example, that of the wind, when the structure is outside. The frame may undergo deflection in one or other direction without risk of the base toppling over. The greater the force applied, the greater will be the downward deflection, thereby reducing the component of any force which tends to topple over the display device. (Figure 1).
