An improved signal assembly and warning-signal support which includes an apparatus for fixing and holding the signal with respect to a column member or frame of the assembly. The various forms of embodying the assembly also include various mechanisms for allowing the signal panel to rotate or oscillate under laterally directed loads in order to allow an elastic portion of the base of the frame to deflect generally according to a preset plane, thereby substantially preventing the signal assembly and support from toppling over. The various embodiments are applicable to signal assemblies and signal supports equipped with arrangements for selectively lowering or folding down the entire assemblies forming compact and conveniently stored configurations, being applicable, also, to assemblies which are not thus equipped.
