PURPOSE:To realize the conversion from KANA (Japanese syllabary) to KANJI (Chinese character) and vice versa by simple operation by executing the conversion of the KANA- KANJI and the selection of a next candidate KANJI or executing the conversion of the KANJI-KANA and the selection of the next candidate KANA with a common designating means. CONSTITUTION:At the time of the conversion of KANA and KANJI, the starting designation of the conversion and the selection of the next candidate of the converted KANJI are executed by the first designating means 1. At the time of the conversion of the KANJI and KANA, the starting designation of the conversion and the selection of the next candidate of the converted KANA are executed by the second designating means 2. When the first designating means 1 is operated, a KANA character column, which comes to be a converting object, is converted to KANJI and displayed by a converting means 3. After the conversion of the KANA-KANJI, further, when the first designating means 1 is operated, the KANJI of the next candidate is selected and displayed by a next candidate KANJI selecting means 4. When the second designating means 2 is operated, the KANJI, which comes to be a converting object, is converted to KANA by the converting means 3. After the conversion of the KANJI- KANA, further, when the second designating means 2 is operated, the KANA (reading) of the next candidate is selected and displayed by a next candidate KANA selecting means 5.
