PURPOSE:To facilitate the reaction of a catalyzer while preventing the overheat thereof by supplying secondary air for an exhaust system during a predetermined time after an idling condition. CONSTITUTION:A secondary air supply pipe 8 is connected to the upstream of a catalyzer 5 for an exhaust pipe 4 and a control valve 10 is provided in way of the pipe 8. A control device 17 is inputted with an opening signal 'S4' for a throttle valve 3, an engine speed signal 'S3' and a cooling water temperature signal 'S2', and judging that an engine is off an idling condition, causes a timer to work for keeping the control valve 10 open for a predetermined time, thereby supplying secondary air to the upstream of the catalyzer 5. Consequently, the reaction of the catalyzer 5 can be facilitated while preventing the overheat thereof.
