PURPOSE:To enable the economic design of a steam turbine and maintain the high efficiency thereof by providing a pressure controller for controlling automatically the opening of a valve on a low pressure steam feed line with pressure in a low pressure stage drop. CONSTITUTION:A control valve 34 is provided in way of a low pressure steam pipe 33, and pressure controllers 35 and 36 are arranged in the upstream and the downstream thereof. Another control valve 39 is fitted on the way from the low pressure steam pipe 33 to a condenser 60, and actuated by a control signal from the pressure controller 35. When a process steam quantity is reduced, the excessive flow quantity of a low pressure turbine 52 is prevented. According to the aforesaid constitution, the economic design of a steam turbine is feasible and highly efficient turbine operation can be made.
