PURPOSE:To stabilize a laser output by projecting a swelling part toward a gas flow inlet side in a part of a main body of a discharge part and projecting a gas inlet having an electrode into said swelling part. CONSTITUTION:A gas medium 7 is flowed in a direction of arrow X and high- pressure d.c. sources 9A and 9B are applied between an anode 8 and cathodes 3a, 3b, so that these are converted into laser beams 11. The warmed gas medium 7 circulates into a gas flowing passage 4 from an outlet 6. The gas medium 7 blown off into an expansion chamber 14 extends a flame 20 upward and also forms a potential core 21 and it bumps against a ceiling plane 16 to be branched off in two ways. A branched gas medium 7A on one side flows to a glow discharge region side and a branched gas medium 7B flows around along the inner planes of the expansion chamber and bumps against a nozzle 17 along the inner surface of a lower swelling part 15 and flows around the nozzle 17 and goes toward the glow discharge region. As a result, the flame 20 extends straight, thereby stabilizing the glow discharge region and the output of the laser beams 11.
