PURPOSE:To produce the title polymer good in rigidity, impact resistance, flow properties and a particle diameter distribution in high yields, by polymerizing propylene in two stages in the presence of a specified catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst is obtained by combining a solid catalyst component (i) obtained by contacting a solid obtained by allowing an oxide of at least one element selected from among the Group II-IV elements of the periodic table and/or a double inorganic oxide containing at least one such oxide to support a magnesium alkoxide compound of the formula (wherein R<1-2> are each a 1-10 C alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl and t is 0-2) and/or a fatty acid magnesium salt with an electron-donating compound with an organoaluminum compound (ii) and an electron donor (iii). 55-95 wt.%, based on the total polymer weight, propylene is polymerized in the presence of the catalyst to obtain a propylene homopolymer of an intrinsic viscosity of 1.0-3.0 dl/g. 45-5 wt.%, based on the total polymer weight, propylene copolymer of a content of other alpha-olefins of 20-80 wt.% is formed to obtain a propylene copolymer of an intrinsic viscosity >= 2.0 dl/g.
