PURPOSE:To desiliconize or dephosphorize molten pig iron efficiently by pretreatment by using a flux contg. water of crystallization. CONSTITUTION:When molten pig iron is desiliconized or dephosphorized by pretreatment, a flux contg. water of crystallization, especially a soda ash-base flux contg. water of crystallization is used. Since the flux which can be transferred with a carrrier gas is utilized, the agitation of the molten pig iron is accelerated and the molten pig iron is very efficiently desiliconized or dephosphorized.
