发明名称 REFINING METHOD FOR COPPER
摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the production efficiency of blister copper and to obtain the copper having a high grade by charging the copper sulfide recovered from the slag generated in a converter into a refining furnace before charging of the blister copper thereby melting and removing the magnetite deposited in the refining furnace. CONSTITUTION:A silicic acid is added to the melt of the copper metal from which impurities are removed to some extent in the previous stage. Gas such as air or air enriched with O2 is blown thereto. The iron in the melt is thereby oxidized by which the iron oxide thereof and the silicic acid are bound and are removed as the slag. Said slag is then cooled with air and is processed in a flotation stage by which only the lumped copper sulfide is recovered. The copper sulfide is charged into the refining furnace before charging of the blister copper and is brought into contact with the magnetite (Fe3O4) deposited on the bottom of the furnace to decompose Fe3O4 to removable FeO as expressed by the formula. On the other hand, the copper sulfide is decomposed to gaseous SO2 and the free copper to improve the grade. The molten blister copper produced in the converter is charged into the refining furnace after the removal of the Fe3O4 and is subjected to stages for oxidation and reduction, by which impurities are removed. The copper is then cast to form an anode for electrolytic refining having >=99.2 copper grade.
