LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT

PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a scattering domain and to provide a titled element having excellent mass productivity by forming an orientation control film which consists of a long chain hydrocarbon-contg. polymer and has >=3 deg. tilt angle between an electrode and liquid crystal phase. CONSTITUTION:Polyhydrazide acid varnish is coated on the substrate electrode and is calcined at 300 deg.C to form a polyhydrazide imide film having >=3 deg. tilt angle. The upper and lower electrode substrates are subjected to a rubbing treatment to adjust the twist angle of the liquid crystal molecules to 200-250 deg.. A nematic liquid crystal material added with 0.5wt% optically active substance is vacuum-sealed between the substrates. Since the orientation control film having the large tilt angle is formed in the above-mentioned manner, the generation of the scattering domain is eliminated and the display element having excellent mass productivity is obtd.
