PURPOSE:To receive all signals in case of transmitting them confidentially from a transmitting side by reporting information as to how many pages of an original can be received confidentially according to the predetermined size and number of characters from a receiver to a transmitter and to a user. CONSTITUTION:A transmitter receives a standardized signal NSF and a digital identification signal DIS and displays the N pages of confidential transmission in a display section 9 according to the predetermined size and number of characters or prints in a recording paper in a recording section 7. An operator lookers the indicator or the result of printing and compares the number of sheets to be transmitted with the number of sheets that can be transmitted and sends out a standardized function setting signal NSS and a digital command signal DCS, and successively sends out a training signal and a training check signal. A receiver receives NSS and DCS and sets a confidential flag, and executes the alignment of the position by the training signal and sends out a preparation for receiving completion signal CFR. The transmitter prints out year, month, day and time of receiving confidential communication and the number of pages in a recording dear in the recording section 7. Thus, all information to be transmitted can be sent by one transmission operation.
