The invention relates to a method and a device for testing electrooptic systems of an optical linkage LO consisting of an optical fibre FO, one end of which is connected to a light-emitting diode DE and the second end of which is connected to an optoelectronic receiving diode DR. The method described consists in supplying the emitting diode DE with a pulsed current of specific frequency and amplitude from a generator GE, in detecting the current of the same shape which then traverses the receiving diode DR, and in converting this current of the same shape into a voltage whose amplitude is measured. The invention is applicable in all systems for data transmission via optical fibres. <IMAGE>
