The present invention relates to a process for treating skeletons of Gorgonia and of other arborescent colonies of polyps, characterised in that it essentially consists in starting with a cleaned skeleton, in reshaping the skeleton by treating with steam for about 5 minutes, then pressing in a horizontal position for about half an hour, this pressing being followed by trimming with a pair of scissors, or using other means, then in carrying out at least two successive soakings of the skeleton in mixtures of resin, hardening agent and pigment, with provision, between each soaking, for a drying time of between 2 and 10 hours at a temperature of between 20 DEG C and 30 DEG C, in producing, after drying the last layer, a sand and resin mortar and in pouring it, around the foot of the skeleton, in a flexible mould coated on the inside with a wax for removing from the mould, and finally, in spreading on the mortar a layer of finishing sand, in drying the whole for about half an hour and in removing it from the mould.
