This device is of the type comprising a hydraulic jack combined with each wheel of a retractable axle, on the body 4 of which is articulated, about a substantially horizontal axis transverse to the axis of the jack, a hook 7 whose opening 8 is directed downwards and which is intended to be engaged over shoulders 9 or the like made on the end of the rod 5 of the jack. According to the invention an electromagnet 12 is fixed to the body 4 of each jack, the core (plunger) 13 of the said electromagnet being able to move longitudinally to the jack and in the opposite direction to that of the hook 7 when the electromagnet is powered, causing the said hook to tilt into the open position. <IMAGE>
