PURPOSE:To obtain a ferritic stainless steel causing no sulfuric acid microgrooves particularly at the time of pickling in manufacturing hot-rolled steel plates, by providing a composition containing one or more elements among Zr, Ti, Nb, Mo, Y, La, and Ce as unreacted elements in a steel having a prescribed composition in the prescribed percentage based on the P content in the steel. CONSTITUTION:The titled ferritic stainless steel has a composition containing, by weight, <=0.12% C, <=1% Si, <=1% Mn, <=0.04% P, <=0.03% S, 0.05-0.2% Al, and besides the above, one or more kinds among above-mentioned unreacted elements in steel so that the sum of the atomic ratios of their content to P content is 0.5-5. This stainless steel is perfectly free from intercrystalline microgrooves at the time of sulfuric acid descaling pickling caused by the intercrystalline segregation of P as an impurity element in steel during slow cooling after hot rolling or after hot rolling-annealing.
