PURPOSE:To obtain information on the production temperature and mineral properties of a material to be measured even not in special environment by acquiring decrepitation not as a sound, but as acoustic emission (AE). CONSTITUTION:Ore as a sample 3 is inserted on a test container and conductor rod 2 into the electric furnace 1 of a geothermometer for knowing the production temperature of the ore firstly. Then, an AE transducer 6 is brought into contact with the end surface of the conductor rod 2 and the electric furnace 1 is heated. As the temperature rises, the internal pressure of liquid inclusion in particles of the sample 3 rises to generate AE and then a decrepitation sound is generated. This decrepitation sound is collected by the AE transducer 6 and inputted to an amplifier and signal processing circuit 10 which has a level controller and a band-pass filter. The circuit 10 cuts external noises by the level controller from this signal and only a signal of the frequency band of AE is discriminated by the band-pass filter to remove noises; and the resulting signal is supplied as a pulse signal to a counter circuit 20, whose counting result is recorded 30.
